Trip Update

Well, after many hours on the side of the road, we're up and running again. Praise the Lord! Thanks for your prayers. We got going at about 2pm and are making good time.

Update #2 - We arrived home safely at 9:45 last night and are spending the day unpacking, doing some grocery shopping, and just settling in.

I know you're on a trip right now but I recently found your blog (through your sister's engagement) and came across this post: http://misselizabethdaming.blogspot.com/2009/08/im-finished.html
while going through some of your old posts (which i enjoyed btw). This sounds like exactly what I would like to do (studying it at home) and would love some more information (name of the program) on it! Thanks ~Anna

Anna,

I'm in the RV, almost home, and am happy for a distraction! :-)

The course I did is called Introduction to Midwifery and is offered through Ancient Arts Midwifery Institute (google it to find their site).

It's a 6 month course, but due to many interuptions and life getting in the way, it took me 1.5 years! I know five or six people who have started the course and only one of them actually finished it by her original deadline. She said she was working 12+ hours a day at the end. It's not too expensive to buy an extention though - $75/yr.

If you want more details about the actual coursework I'd be happy to get them to you. Email me at elizabethdamingATyahooDOTcom.

I noticed that they've recently started a Midwifery Exploration Program as well. I don't know much about it, but it might be worth looking into.

Feel free to email me any other midwifery related questions you have as well. I'd love to hear about books you've read, things you've learned, etc.

Enjoy!
Liz

Glad you guys finally made it home!

So you are becoming a midwife? I have a friend up in NH who has gone through years of schooling and delivering x amount of babies. She finally finished and is just waiting for the State test. It's a lot of work, but we need more christian midwives. I attempted to have little Penn at home but after more than 24 hours of back labor went to the hospital wanting pain relief, which they didn't give me!! Not sure if I will try it at home again or not.

can't wait to hear of wedding plans!! and the engagement story!!!!

Janet,

I'm considering becoming a midwife. I've been studying on my own for years now and am just trying to figure out what the Lord would have me do with this calling. It's a lot of work, you're right. I do enjoy it though. :-)
